According to the Occupational Health and Safety Act no. 85 of 1993, an employer must take all reasonable steps to ensure that all persons in the workplace receive prompt first aid treatment in case of an injury or emergency.
The Act forces employers who employ more than 5 person, to provide a first aid box near the workplace that is always and anytime accessible for the treatment of an injured person.
